Willow Tree Golf (formerly known as Bear Creek Golf & Country Club) winds along the banks of the Sydenham River in Strathroy, just west of London. Established in 1914, the course has mature trees lining the fairways and their prominent presence throughout lends a secluded atmosphere to the entire golf course. The layout features an interesting variety of holes that incorporate the natural surroundings as well as strategically placed bunkering. Water hazards come into play on a few holes as well. The versatile layout appeals to all skill levels, making the course ideal for tournaments and casual play. The affordable rates are also one of Willow Tree Golf's major draws.

A beautiful course demanding well placed shots. Pace of play was good, the greens were in great shape and played well and the course was very challenging.
As an observation, the first cut was deep enough, about 5", to lose balls and and the satellite GPS showed up as the old course, Bear Creek.

The course was in very good shape. However, it was a warm weekend day and there was no sign of a beercart. The manager had no valid excuse for this when questioned. Afterwards, the selection of beverages was very limited and the food offering was poor at best, just over priced sandwiches. The former restaurant with seating and TV is now closed with only a couple tables in a cramped pro shop. We had reserved carts and got them but others who had booked them did not and they were upset.

    Fantastic course

Bear Creek is a diamond of a golf course that provides loads of variety and great risk/reward club options throughout its 18 holes.

The course is very mature, beautiful layout and design, and quite challenging with several tight fairways, several reachable (maybe) greens over water if a player is willing to take risks, but rewards accurate iron play and conservative golf as well.

Because Bear Creek doesn't have a resident golfer population like Caradoc Sands with the twin elms retirement estates across the street, pace of play is much better (I average over 5 hours at Caradoc when I play there due to it being very booked up and demographics lending to generally slower pace).

If you haven't played it, Bear Creek is excellent I would recommend it to any golfer, especially those looking to improve their game and work on their course management skills.
